NEW SHOW AT THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA ARTS CENTER

We have a new show hanging at The Northern Virginia Art Center through Aug 25th.  Here is one of the five paintings I have there for this month.  It's a cute little 6 x 6 mini painted on board and framed in a beautiful plein air black frame which brings the size to about 10 x 10.  You should go check out the new gallery as it really is spectacular!

The Northern Virginia Art Center is located at the Crystal City Shops on Crystal Drive and 20th St. The gallery is right next to Au Bon Pain. There is free parking if you ask the gallery director for a coupon which she will gladly give you.

This show hangs until Aug 25th.  Gallery Hours are Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm and Saturday 10am - 2pm.

Just back from Kenya!  The most amazing trip of my life.  I have so many great photographs that I'm sure I will be painting animals this fall.  But I had painted this same painting for my living room before I left on vacation and decided that I liked it so much that I would paint it again so I could sell it.  This one is much smaller but I painted it yesterday.  I haven't been in my studio for 3 weeks.  It felt great to get back to it.  Speaking of that I have only two weeks left for my solo art show at Piola Restaurant in Arlington, Virginia so if you haven't seen it get on down there!  Also, you have to check out the new Northern Virginia Arts Gallery in Crystal City where I am now hanging paintings.  Here is the link to the gallery's website:    http://www.novaartcenter.org/#!home/mainPage

I know I have been very remiss at blogging for the last three weeks but I've been so busy!  My daughter graduated high school and we went to the beach for a week.  I'm now preparing to leave on safari in Kenya.  I know I will have many beautiful things to paint when I return.  I have also been redecorating my living room and painted this beautiful landscape for over my fireplace.  This painting is NOT for sale.  I am so happy at how it turned out.  I love the colors and wanted to create a peaceful, serene scene for the living room.  If you love it as much as I do I'm sure I can recreate something similar.  I love painting this large.  I'm finding that I enjoy painting larger paintings lately.  I'll try to post again before I head to Africa!

Okay, I know this is divergent from what I have been painting lately.  But I love Buffalos what can I say. They look so cute and sweet.  I've painted similar paintings to this one before and sold all of them so I must not be the only person who finds these large mammals cute.  I was getting a little bored painting Italy, France, and the beach so I digressed to the west.  I hang my 30 paintings for my upcoming solo show this friday!  It's so exciting but a little nerve wracking to think that I will be the sole focus at my reception next tuesday.  Please stop by for a glass of wine and to say hi.  Piola in Arlington.
