I sold my abstract boat painting to a friend of mine that owns a house in Camden, Maine so it got me to thinking about painting some Maine landscapes.  This is the first one.  It looks so relaxing to sit by a lake and just enjoy the peace & quiet.  I'm looking forward to those warmer, slower days in the spring & summer!  I will be on vacation this saturday for a week so won't be back to my blog until after that.  Have a great week.

I sold the Abstract Boat Painting that I posted last week!  Etsy is being good to me this year.  I'm getting ready for an animal show in April that is a fundraiser between the art gallery I am a part of in Crystal City and The Animal Welfare League.  I have some paintings that I did after my safari but I decided that I should do some domestic animals as well.  Cows just always seem so cute to me so when I came across this photograph I was drawn to the expressions and positions of these two cows.  I decided to paint them in a whimsical way as they seem to be asking "Where did everyone go?  I love how it turned out.  If it's not sold before the show in April I will enter it.  Stay tuned for more animals!

There is nothing like a beautiful day spent on a sail boat.  Being winter I'm trying to pretend that it's not so cold outside and am painting things that remind me of spring & summer days!  That way I spend hours in my studio not having to face the reality of freezing temperatures outside.  It actually works most of the time (as long as I remember to turn on my portable heater a half hour before going into my studio).  I'm hoping it won't be long before I can actually open my studio doors and paint with the fresh air.  I hope you like this whimsical painting of sail boats.  I find it freeing.  It makes me happy.  I think I may do more paintings like this.

COMMISSION - Carolina Sunset

Another Etsy commission!  Ms. Maas lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and she likes several of my Carolina Sunset paintings so she commissioned me to paint one for her dining room.  I will be sending her the photos of  it shortly so I hope she loves it.  I combined the sky from one painting with the land area from another painting.  Both of which she liked and couldn't decide so I thought combining them was a great idea.  I think it turned out great and I'm very pleased.

Commission from Etsy - Eiffel Tower

"La Tour Eiffel"
24 x 30
Oil

Last tuesday I was contacted by a woman through my Etsy store who liked one of my Eiffel Tower paintings at night.  She commissioned me to paint the same painting only much larger 24 x 30 and with peach/pink/orange in the sky for her 7 year old daughter's room.  I finished it and sent her the photo's holding my breath that she would like it because she and her daughter were not agreeing about the background sky color.  Thankfully, I heard back from her that she loved it!  As soon as it's finished drying I will ship it to her in Baltimore where it will reside on her daughter's wall between two windows.  I've no idea if the daughter has been to Paris yet but she certainly has good taste in art!
