Ocean View II

After painting the commission of this I decided that I liked it so much I would paint it again only on a smaller canvas.  It looks very different from the 24 x 36 inch version.  I find that it is so much more fun to paint on a larger canvas.  But not so much fun to carry those around to shows!  Anyway, I do really like how this turned out.   It will be hanging in the Crystal City Gallery for the month of July so go take a look.  I'm off to the beach for two weeks tomorrow but will blog from there.

SOLD! Bald Head Island

SOLD
Bald Head Island, NC

Sold another painting on Etsy Monday.  I'm well on my way to my goal for this year.  The woman that purchased this painting lives in Easton, Maryland but her parents own a second home on Bald Head Island.  This painting captured the view from the place we rented there several years ago.  It's a unique island with beautiful inland waterways and marshlands along with their wide white beaches on the ocean.  It's a wonderful place to paint.  I'll have to return one day.

Sold Sold Sold!

"La Porte du Jardin"
SOLD

"Provence Alley"
SOLD

"Venice House"
SOLD

I've had a great week on Etsy.  I sold these 3 paintings the morning I was heading out of town last week.  Every time I go out of town I sell!  These 3 were sold to a woman in Atlanta.  I do hope she likes them.  I shipped them off last thursday on my way to the beach.  I also have a customer coming over tonight to look at a large painting of my Tuscan Vineyards so I hope to sell that one too.  Things seem to be picking up.  I hope it lasts the rest of the year.  My goal is to get to 100 sales on Etsy by year end.  I'm at 58 so far.

Photo I used to paint Ocean View

I love Etsy.  You never know who you'll meet there!  I received an email from a very nice man in Boston who commissioned me to paint this painting of the view from his parents home.  I've included the photo that he sent to me so you can see what I painted from.  I love how it turned out.  I've not had a lot of experience painting rocks.  Truth be told I've kind of tried to avoid them because I heard they were so hard to paint.  I had so much fun painting them.  I was in a real groove today.  I just decided to look at each rock's shape and paint it based on the shape and the lights and darks.  Really when you boil it down that's what painting is.  Shapes and lights & darks.  I do hope he loves it.  I'll be shipping it to him in about a week once it's dry.  Send me your comments I'd like to know what you think.
